New Home Ideas - Living Room

In less than three week's time, Our Cherry Tree will be planted in a new location. We would have said goodbye to our lovely two-bed terrace and taken up tenancy in a three-bed home in another part of town.

Yes, I'm nervous. Yes, I'm a bit stressed. But. I'm also faithful. Without going into a long story, we thought we'd have to move to another county once we had two children, instead, we have been provided for here in High Wycombe, first with Matt's job, then with a new affordable home and now with a job offer for me that works around childcare. For what purpose, I don't know, but I know that this is the start of a new chapter.

And so, a new home. A blank canvas for the family Kirsch to make their own. It is a rental and so don't expect my design inspiration to join the ranks of 'Perfect Home' magazine, but it's a lovely space, a lovely family space and I'm very much looking forward to making it our space.

So, where do I turn first? One word. Pinterest. I'm more than just a little in love with Pinterest. It's so simple and yet so inspiring. And, without further ado, here are my plans for our new living room.

The fireplace and alcoves make me think this room is begging to be a warm and cosy TV room. It's not a huge space, and so our little IKEA Klippan sofa is likely to be more than enough, although I'd love to fit in an armchair of some sort and maybe a coffee table.

I like a palette of greys and neutrals, but am also drawn to pops of metallics in contrast with natural textures. I have tons of books, so am planing on putting my bookcases in the alcoves. Leaving me with a dilemma about where to then put the TV... interior design is not my strong point!

We'll be working to a tight budget so we won't be doing an awful lot of shopping but I can't help looking online and have found lots of lovely items from H&M, Oliver Bonas and these prints by Bookishly.

I'm already getting excited about seeing our possessions in their new home. I'll also be sharing my ideas for our kitchen and dining room next week. In the meantime, you can find more of my ideas over on my Pinterest board.

Pinterest is amazingly helpful when it comes at ideas to decorate or even buy/make/order new furniture. I love grey too, it's perfect. Your selection looks lovely and I'm sure the house will look beautiful.
