Wow.
September marks a year of blogging at Our Cherry Tree.
A whole year of blogging. Properly blogging. Eek!
It's been a year of ups and downs, crafts and baking, moving and settling. Chronicling life chez Kirsch has been interesting for me and I've learnt a lot.
I've been pretty surprised. When I first started this blog a year ago I wasn't expecting anyone to actually read it! I primarily write as a record for my kids, as something to look back on and an outlet for my rambling thoughts and yet this has expanded to be so much more.
I have been able to explore my interest in graphic design, I've learnt a little bit about HTML and CSS and I've even been lucky enough to work with a couple of brands.
And I've discovered even more lovely blogs to read and interact with.
My favourite moment this year was finding my post about being a Rubbish Friend on the Mumsnet Blogger Network front page. I also submitted it on the Selfish Mother site where it received over 600 'likes' and 500 shares (might not seem like much, but that's big for little ol'me!) Some of the comments were amazing, I was touched by how many people said they could relate to the post, it's nice to know you're not alone.
A week later and I was featured on the front page again with my heartfelt apology to Matt's old work colleague who didn't like Mondays.
Other highlights have included hosting my very first competitions and co-hosting one of my favourite linkies, Candid Cuddles.
So what does next year hold for Our Cherry Tree?
Blogging is a hobby so I don't put any pressure on myself, I blog when I have something to say which means that some weeks go by with just a few posts and others are jam-packed. Over the next year I plan to structure this a bit more and am also hoping to expand on my social media presence by adding a Facebook page. I've also created a media kit which felt a bit scary as I'm not confident about selling myself, I'm still working up to approaching brands that I'd like to work with - one step at a time.
So, thank you. Thank you for reading my blog, for commenting and interacting with me on Twitter and Instagram - it really does mean a lot.
