What Dad's REALLY want for Father's Day

... Well, maybe.

I hope it's not just me, but I really struggle buying gifts for my husband for *little* occasions like Father's Day, Valentines Day and even our Anniversary. If he needs something, he tends to buy it at the time. If he really likes something it is usually very expensive. He's not at all soppy and so isn't into sentimental gifts and there's only so many watches and pairs of cufflinks one can give before they begin to lose their appeal.

So for Father's Day this year, I asked him straight.

What would you really want for Father's Day?

A lie-in
This costs nothing, but Matt is apparently desperate for a lie in. I know it will hurt briefly when I drag myself out of bed at 5:30am on Sunday but I know it'll be worth it for all the times he lets me catch an extra hour of listening to the kids screaming downstairs blissful rest.

A drill
Ah, a typical manly gift. All Dads must surely own a drill. We may even be able to get one on special offer and so not as expensive as Matt's usual tastes. Brilliant!

A big English breakfast
One of Matt's favourite meals. We do like to sometimes go out for a big breakfast, somewhere like the Blacksmiths Arms Harvester where they do a great freshly cooked breakfast, or The Papermill where do they put on a really good breakfast buffet. We do have church on Sunday morning though and I don't think either of these will still be serving breakfast by the time we're finished so I'm debating whether to head to Frankie and Benny's, Eden for a family brunch. That way, if we miss breakfast we can still grab a great deal with their Father's Day menu - and Dad's eat free!
A PS4...
See what I mean when I say he has expensive tastes?! Let's face it, this isn't going to happen unless we win the lottery on Saturday night (even more unlikely when we don't even play the lottery). He can dream though, everyone deserves to dream and Matt's is currently to sell his XBox One to a friendly home and instead buy a second hand PS4 so that he can play with his friends (none of whom have an XBox).

Anything really.
Helpful. Really helpful.

Luckily, I have the perfect handmade gift up my sleeve courtesy of the lovely Eden Shopping Centre who, on Saturday, are giving children the chance to create their very own 'Portrait for Dad'. Everything you need for your child to create their very own masterpiece. The free event will be on in Kids Corner from 11am to 4pm and I'd definitely recommend it.

Whilst you're at it, why not check out the entries in Eden’s hilarious Father’s Day Face Swap competition:
The latest must-try craze to take social media by storm is Face Swap and it’s guaranteed to provide some serious belly laughs! To celebrate Father’s Day, Eden asked shoppers to do a Face Swap with dad and post to social media tagging Eden and using the hashtag #FaceSwapDad.
