My Geek Gift List

Can you remember a time before you could buy nearly anything you wanted at a click of a button?

As a teen and a lover of all things Lord of the Rings I would sit in an internet cafe searching the world wide web for anything to fuel my passion. There wasn't much. I don't think I'd even heard of eBay at that point (I am only 32 by the way but the internet was still new enough to be featured on 'Tomorrow's World')...

But now. Wow. If you love something you can probably find someone else who loves it too. And then there are those who love it enough to pour a bit of that inspiration into a product you can buy.

Art, candles, bookmarks, clothing, mugs, badges, dolls, collectables, tea towels...

So many fandoms and so many products. All at the click of a button. Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Throne of Glass.

If you're looking for something new to geek out over, or a gift for a fan of Sarah J Maas, Alice in Wonderland or Once Upon a Time then (I hope) you've come to the right place. These are my fave picks, the things that get a 30-something female hobbit with an over-active imagination excited enough to start tapping out her credit card details...

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my wish list of all things that appeal to my outer-geek.

Quote Tshirt (Star Graphix)
The Shire Travel Poster (Harknett Prints)
Second Breakfast Tshirt (Blissfully Bookish)
Gandalf Quote Poster (Harknett Prints)

If you'd told younger me that one day I would be able to get t-shirts with my favourite LOTR quotes on them I would have cried and until the day I get to design and build my very own Hobbit hole I will console myself with fun and funky images and characters.

Postcards from Middle Earth (Weta)
Frodo Funko Pop (EMP)
Second Breakfast Sign (Orchard House Signs)
Mini Epics Gollum (Weta)

Platform 9 3/4 Hogwarts Express (Studio Moriarty)
Wizard Fandom Keyring (Sandy Kisses UK)
Niffler Funko Pop (Menkind)
Yule Ball Poster (WindowShopGal)

My secondary school English teacher could never get her head round my obsession for fictional characters, especially Harry Potter but it's a passion that hasn't faded much over time.

Order of the Phoenix Pin (Hand Over Your Fairycakes)
Hufflepuff Crest Cardigan (EMP)
Hermione Granger Doll (Walmart)
Library Print (Nutmeg and Arlo)

Night Court Mug (Fable and Black)
Fairy Wish Dandelion Necklace (Oh Panda Eyes)
Rattle the Stars Print (The Minute Paperie)
Rattle the Stars Pin (Fable and Black)

The more I read the more I find to love. My current favourite is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas, closely followed by the Throne of Glass series. I love this mug from Fable and Black so much that I bought it a while back and used it to drink anything from tea to wine (I'm a classy lady, I feel Feyre would approve).

Alice in Wonderland Scarf (Book Lover Gifts)
Always Victorious Candle (The Melting Library Store)
Drink Me Alice in Wonderland Mug (ethical.market)
All Magic Comes With A Price Bangle (Bookish Adventures)

My interests are wide ranging and I'd be hard-pushed to name my favourite fandom. It's not just books either, I'm a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia films and prefer them to the books (shocking, I'm sorry) and still knock on the back of particularly old wardrobes... you know, just in case.

I fell in love with the first series of Once Upon a Time just after I had Ollie and spent a lot of time on the sofa snuggling and breastfeeding.

Chronicles of Narnia Colouring Book (Amazon)
Narnia King and Queen Print (Cheerfully Given)
Through the Wardrobe Pin (Dust and Pages)
Cair Paravel Travel Poster (Studio Moriarty)

If you don't respond to me saying "You remind of the babe" with the correct subsequent line then I will question our friendship. Well, maybe not but if you can sing along to Magic Dance with me or yell "Inconceivable" at random points then you'll have a hard job getting rid of me.
As you wish.
Labyrinth Jareth Funko Pop (Amazon)
The Princess Bride Opoly (Amazon)
Princess Bride T-shirt (Litographs)
Labyrinth Ludo Plush (Amazon)

The best bit about this post is that I know I haven't even scratched the surface of all the things out there. I'm looking for t-shirts inspired by Tamora Pierce's Alanna the Lioness, candles that smell like Polgara's kitchen at Faldor's Farm, jewellery fashioned like pieces from faerie realms and a real-life Niffler...

Someone, somewhere will agree with me!

Anything to add? Found something that made your inner-geek shriek in delight? Let me know in the comments!

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is wonderful post. A fantastic read. I will definitely be back. business consultancy firms singapore
