Party Planning - Lily and Matt's Baptism

Following on from my post about Ollie's baptism I thought I'd share some photos and memories from the day both Lily and Matt were baptised together.

Lily was baptised in February 2013 when she was 5 months old. Matt had been dedicated as a baby but thought he had been baptised - once he realised he hadn't it was something he was keen to do. It made sense to us to do it at the same time especially seeing as Matt wasn't keen on being the centre of attention and Lily stole the show!

I used invites adapted from the gorgeous free printables on the Wedding Chicks blog - I LOVE this site and they've got some gorgeous designs which can be tailored to your colour scheme. Take a look. You won't regret it.

After the service we held a small celebration in the church hall. This event set the bar high for Ollie's baptism
last summer as the 'bring and share' buffet was a huge success. Our friends and family were incredibly generous and bought sandwiches, chicken pieces, pizza, crisps, sausage rolls and crudites. The same lovely friend who made our wedding cake made us the most amazing cake pops - all decorated and presented in cute little gift bags.

Again, our beautiful professional pictures were by the talented Patrycja at Painted with Light. I love the moments she captured of Lily having hugs with her great-grandmas!

My Mummy made the cake, a delicious light lemon sponge with pink vanilla butter icing. I'd love to say I assisted but my main accomplishment was making and placing the coloured flowers which cascaded down one side of the plain white tiers whilst my Mum and Matt tried to hunt down a black cardigan at Dorothy Perkins for me after a meltdown on the Saturday afternoon...

The cake is lovely. I like the contrast of the three colours. I bet you felt really proud of them both. A lovely thing to do to make the day even more special.
